Abstract
This research is conducted to describe whether the reading materials designs are appropriate or not for the second semester of seventh grade students at junior high school. This thesis is also written for additional materials to English teachers in designing their reading materials. This research is developmental research which is aimed to design reading materials based on Contextual Teaching Learning for the second semester of seventh grade students at junior high school. The research findings show that the reading materials which are designed based on Contextual Teaching Learning are relevance for the teacher and the students at junior high school. It is shown from the teacher’s and students’ responses toward the questionnaire. Most of the responses were agree of the questionnaire items. The writer applied a questionnaire after trying out the reading materials design to the English teacher of SMPN 11 Pontianak. The teacher as respondent gave positive respond. The questionnaire was designed to identify the appropriateness of the material designed to both teacher and students. They both responded that the materials were relevance for them.
