Abstract

This research was conducted find out whether the use of video blog posted in YouTube was effective in teaching spoken recount text to the students, with pre experimental design as the method. The sample of the research was picked by cluster random sampling; it was in a class X MIPA 2 of SMA Negeri 2 Pontianak with 30 students as the research participants. Based on the findings, the t-test was 25.92. It was higher than t-table, which was 2.045 at the degree of freedom (df) N 1 (30-1=29) = 0.05. The result of the effective size was 4.41, where the category was strong effect. It was revealed that Null Hypothesis (Ho) which the use of video blog posted in YouTube is effective to teach spoken recount text was accepted and the Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) was rejected. Therefore, this technique is recommended to teach spoken recount text related to people’s experience.
