Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out whether English Language Exposure Media influence students’ speaking activity or not. This research also focused to find out whether the various kind of English language exposure could be suits the curriculum or not. At the same time, it was also aim to find the effectiveness of the media exposure. This research used pre-experimental research with pre-test, post test, and two times of treatments. The participants of this research were the students from grade XII of SMA Santo Fransiskus Pontianak with the population was 80 students from grade XII IPS and the sample was 30 students from grade XII IPS 3. The sample was chosen used simple random sampling. The data were collected using the measurement technique by using speaking test. The research finding showed that the mean score of the students’ pre-test was 54.60 while the post-test was 78.33. The interval score of the students’ mean score of pre-test and post-test was 25.73. It showed that the score of the students’ speaking activity increased after the treatment was conducted. The result of effect size (ES) was 2.38 which categorized as strong effect (ES > 1.00). Therefore, it can be concluded that English language exposure media does influence students’ speaking activity and it does effective to be implemented to the class curriculum.
