Abstract
This was a development study aimed at designing song-based supplementary materials in the form of an e-book to teach figurative language to eleventh-grade students in SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Raya Kepulauan. The objective of this study is how to design supplementary materials entitled “Our Playlist” and how appropriate it is. The participants of this study are the teacher and the eleventh-grade students. Interview and questionnaires were employed as the instruments. The researcher used three out of five phases of ADDIE: Analysis, Design, and Develop. The product was designed and developed based on the basic competencies, the performance gap from the teacher interview, and the students’ music preference from the students’ questionnaires. The supplementary materials “Our Playlist” appropriateness of contents, language, graphics, and methods reached the score of 4,8 categorized as excellent. Hence, the song-based e-book supplementary material namely “Our Playlist” to teach figurative languages to eleventh-grade students was appropriate.
