Abstract
Perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan khususnya dibidang teknologi pada zaman modern saat ini semakin hari semakin pesat baik itu di sektor otomotif maupun sektor industri, hal ini berkaitan erat dengan meningkatkannya ilmu pengetahuan untuk dapat mengukur efektivitas perpindahan panas pada alat penukar kalor khususnya tipe shell and tube. Studi efektivitas suatu alat penukar kalor sangat dibutuhkan untuk meningkatkan efektivitas alat penukar kalor tersebut, karena setiap produk alat penukar kalor yang diciptakan memiliki efektivitas yang berbeda-beda. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan nilai efektivitas perpindahan panas pada alat penukar kalor tipe shell and tube serta pengaruh laju aliran dan suhu masuk terhadap efektivitas perpindahan panas pada alat penukar kalor tipe shell and tube sehingga efektivitas perpindahan panas maksimal. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini merupakan metode eksperimental yaitu melakukan eksperimen langsung dan menggunakan data awal sebelum pengujian serta data hasil pengujian. Data awal pengujian berupa suhu masuk fluida panas, fluida dingin, laju aliran fluida panas dan fluida dingin, sedangkan data hasil pengujian yang didapatkan berupa suhu keluar fluida panas dan fluida dingin. Setelah melakukan proses pengambilan data awal sebelum pengujian dan data hasil pengujian selanjutnya dilakukan proses perhitungan atau pengolahan data untuk mendapatkan nilai efektivitas perpindahan panas. Dari hasil pengujian alat penukar kalor tipe shell and tube dengan dari ketiga suhu fluida panas yaitu 40º, 50º, dan 60º, suhu dengan angka 40º C merupakan suhu yang menghasilkan nilai efektifitas yang tertinggi yaitu: pada laju aliran 1 liter/menit = 22,73 %. Didapati pula fenomena semakin tinggi nilai laju aliran fluida panas, maka dapat menurunkan nilai efektivitas laju perpindahan panas yang terjadi pada alat penukar kalor tipe shell and tube. Study of the effectiveness of a heat exchanger is needed to increase the effectiveness of the heat exchanger, because each heat exchanger product created has different effectiveness. This study aims to obtain the value of the effectiveness of heat transfer on the shell and tube type heat exchanger and the effect of flow rate and inlet temperature on the effectiveness of heat transfer in the shell and tube type heat exchanger so that the effectiveness of heat transfer is maximized. The method used in this study is an experimental method, namely conducting direct experiments and using initial data before testing and test data. The initial test data are the inlet temperature of the hot fluid, cold fluid, flow rate of hot fluid and cold fluid, while the test result data obtained are the exit temperature of hot fluid and cold fluid. After carrying out the initial data collection process before the test and the test results data, the calculation process or data processing is carried out to obtain the value of the effectiveness of heat transfer. From the results of testing the shell and tube type heat exchanger with the three hot fluid temperatures, namely 40º, 50º, and 60º, the temperature with the number 40º C is the temperature that produces the highest effectiveness value, namely: at a flow rate of 1 liter/minute = 22.73 %. It was also found that the higher the value of the hot fluid flow rate, the lower the effectiveness of the heat transfer rate that occurred in the shell and tube type heat exchanger.
